He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will manifest the motives of our hearts (1 Cor 4:5)

We will begin the Church’s great communal retreat on Ash Wednesday, March 1.  The parish will be offering many opportunities for spiritual growth during this beautiful season. First of all, please pray for the men, women and children who are preparing to enter the Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) and the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC).  They are undergoing intense preparation to receive baptism and confirmation, or to make a profession of faith and be confirmed.

Lent is a time for us to consciously unite ourselves to Jesus, who underwent temptation in the wilderness after his own baptism.  The Catechism of the Catholic Church says, “Jesus' temptation reveals the way in which the Son of God is Messiah, contrary to the way Satan proposes to him and the way men wish to attribute to him. This is why Christ vanquished the Tempter for us: "For we have not a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tested as we are, yet without sinning." By the solemn forty days of Lent the Church unites herself each year to the mystery of Jesus in the desert.”

While Jesus successfully resisted temptation, we do not.  Therefore, we will be offering many opportunities to reconcile ourselves to God sacramentally.

  • Wednesdays 7:45 – 8:30 a.m. and 5:45 – 6:30 p.m. (except Ash Wednesday)
  • Fridays 6:30 – 7:00 p.m. (except Good Friday, April 14, when confessions will be at noon)
  • Saturdays 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
  • Sundays 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. (Español)

Our next Mercy Night (Reconciliation Service with Adoration) will be Friday, March 31 from 7:30 – 10 p.m.  There will not be confessions from 6:30 – 7 p.m. this night.

In addition, we will have Stations of the Cross on Fridays at 6:30 p.m. in English, y Estaciones de la Cruz en español los lunes a las 7 p.m.

El retiro de Cuaresma se llevará a cabo el sábado 4 de marzo, comenzando con la Misa a las 9:00 a.m. y terminando a las 2 p.m.
