Pastor's Corner

Last weekend we celebrated the feast of St. Dominic, the kickoff of our capital campaign, and the ability of this community to work together on a common project. The results were a great example of what happens when we serve a greater goal.
I am so grateful to the many individuals and groups that pitched in – in particular an individual who never wants to be singled out for thanks (you know who you are!), who coordinated the cleaning up of the lower hall of the community center and the arranging of tables and chairs. She also provided the lovely orchid arrangements on our cocktail tables outside. Thank you to the folks from a wide variety of ministries who provided snacks and sandwiches throughout the day, and to the members of the Development Committee who worked hard to plan and promote the event and especially Jorge Silva, our committee chair, who got the mariachis and the jazz trio to provide music.
Jesús and Leo, our parish and school maintenance managers, respectively set up the tents that kept us cool, and many parishioners met ahead of time to learn enough about the project to serve as tour guides throughout the day. Thank you, too! Finally, thank you, to our wonderful parish staff who pitched before, during and after to help, and Greg, our development director, for your enthusiastic optimism and trust in the Spirit at work in this community. Finally, thank YOU to those of you who took tours of the building and came back for our festivities at 2:45 p.m. God bless you!
The project ahead of us is daunting, to be sure, but I trust that nothing will be impossible for God, and you gave proof to that faith last weekend. And so with St. Paul I praise “him who is able to accomplish far more than all we ask or imagine, by the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
